Masses throughout Lent will be the same as the normal weekday mass schedule. We currently have 14 weekday masses in the week in the St Mantan Pastoral Area including two evening masses on Mondays and Tuesdays in Rathnew at 7 PM. There are also two extra masses on the First Fridays (a total of 16 Weekday masses on the first week of the Month). These masses are in addition to Funeral and Wedding Services, and Masses in Nursing Homes as well as the many First Reconciliation Services, First Holy Communion Masses and Confirmations which will take place over the next few months. As you can appreciate, we are not in a position this year to celebrate extra masses during Lent as it is a challenge to keep the current weekday schedule going. For those who work in Dublin, there are also many lunch time masses available in the City Churches. The key elements of Lent are Prayer, Penance, Almsgiving and Fasting as a way of bringing us closer to God. And these practices can taking many forms which can help us on that inner journey. May the Lord bless and guide us all as we begin that inner journey this Lent.
